Born and raised in New York City, Léonie Walker lives in Portola Valley, CA with her wife of 35 years, Kate O’Hanlan, M.D. She is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Laparoscopic Institute for Gynecology & Oncology (LIGO), which produced courses for gynecologic surgeons on minimally invasive surgery from 2006-2019. Léonie served on the Board of Directors of Horizons Foundation from 2007-2011 and as an Advisor to the Civil Marriage Collaborative (CMC) of the Proteus Fund from 2005-2011 and helped launch the Horizons Foundation CMC Donor Circle. She is the past chair of the Women of Silicon Valley Donor Circle of the Women’s Foundation of California. Léonie is a past member of the Board of Directors of Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and The Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center in New York and served on the Horizons Foundation Program Committee.
