Children have been settling into a routine to start their day. For some, like Bodhi, helping to set up the room is a nice way to transition into activities, for others, like Isabella, it can mean sitting down to breakfast, then focusing on a painting at the art table.

Teacher Stephanie supports children interested in practicing spatial awareness and a variety of gross motor skills as they navigate through an obstacle course.

Feelings continued to be a theme at circle time during the week of the 21st. Here the children give their best faces expressing frustration when we read “When Miles Gets Mad” and got to the part where Miles was very frustrated with his younger brother.

Aaron takes care of his baby, saying, “He’s hungry!”

We noticed that children seemed very interested in food themed play, like food trucks on the playground and restaurants/stores selling food in dramatic play. So the week of the 28th we began exploring the theme of food. Next week we’ll talk more about GLOW, GROW and GO foods.

Bodhi’s dad, Dan, works with Ariyah as she creates an intricate mixed media collage, using fabric and other upcycle materials.

Amy works with Vivian and says, “We made a sweets shop!” She went on to describe the various flavors available. Teacher Kerry makes fruit smoothies with children in the afternoon!

We asked Jaylah why she looked sad one morning. We decided to write a letter to her mom because she was missing her. After dictating a letter, she wrote one all by herself starting with “I love you, Mommy.” She framed it with tape and looked very proud and satisfied with her work!
